Interfaith Coalition on the Environment
We are a network of people and communities of faith in south central Pennsylvania advocating on a grassroots level to reduce the ecological footprint of individuals, organizations and municipalities. We will begin with a focus on carbon footprints.
We Think Globally and Act Locally, and we recognize that attention must be paid to three legs of sustainability:
- Environmental sustainability
- Economic sustainability – economic development is important.
- Ethical sustainability – social justice issues are important.
As a Core Project we will go to religious communities throughout the area, often in their Houses of Worship, with a two-part presentation:
- What the science suggests is happening to the global environment, and why this is an ethical issue and a theological issue in reference to the heritage of that particular religious community;
- How each individual can implement lifestyle changes especially with regard to lowering our carbon footprint in our homes, offices and travel.
